Scottish Football Tips Best Bets 16th April 2016

We are delighted to continue a tie up with Scottish Football Tips who will be providing us with a regular series of free football tips. These guys have a great track record of success in tipping and are well worth a follow on twitter too (@FitbaTips).

It’s been a tough few weeks from a Scottish football betting point of view with value unusually hard to come by. I mentioned in the forums last weekend that the place to look now is for teams with everything still to play for against teams with little left. Nowhere is that more evident this week than at Glebe Park.

Brechin have given themselves a real chance of survival after looking down and out not so long ago. It’s unfortunate for them that it has coincided with Forfar and Cowdenbeath having an upturn in form but that just goes to prove when the chips are down it’s time to come out fighting.

And they have come out fighting with just one defeat in their last nine home games. They have won five times in that spell while conceding a single goal in those victories and some of them were impressive to say the least.

A 4-0 win over Forfar was matched by victories over Stranraer, Ayr Utd and Albion Rovers. There is every chance they can match the feat against an out of sorts Peterhead this weekend.

For me The Blue Toon’s season culminated in last weeks appearance at Hampden. For many (most) that will have been the day of their lives and it will be hard to lift themselves again for a trip to Brechin.

Brechin can be backed at a high of 4.1 (31/10) with McBookie but I am playing cagey and taking Draw No Bet insurance at 3.25 (9/4) with bet365. If you are looking for some acca fodder backing Brechin to score +0.5 team goals looks good at 1.36 (9/25) with Ladbrokes.

There is an argument (a valid one) that we should be backing all the sides fighting for their lives this weekend. Dumbarton, Forfar, Stenhousemuir and even Stranraer all have a good chance against sides who may be downing tools.

The only other bet for me though is at the top of the table in League Two where I think Queens Park’s away record (immovable object) will overcome Elgin City’s home form (unstoppable force). Elgin’s form has dropped off a cliff with just one win in seven games while The Spiders haven’t lost in ten games on the road.

Which, coincidentally, is exactly how many games since Elgin have got one over on them. Again I am taking draw no bet insurance at 2.3 (13/10) with Ladbrokes and I wouldn’t blame anyone for backing the draw in this game. Could a third 0-0 in a row happen? I wouldn’t back against it.

Good luck.

BRECHIN CITY (draw no bet) v Peterhead @ 3.25 with bet365

Elgin City v QUEENS PARK (draw no bet) @ 2.3 with Ladbrokes
