SPFL Twitter League Table - April 2016

SPFL Twitter League Table - April 2016

In August 2015 before the 15-16 SPFL season kicked off we ran a feature looking at the number of twitter followers of all 42 senior sides across all 4 of the SPFL divisions.

Today we've updated our data to review how the teams have fared over the course of the season.

The table below shows each of the 42 clubs ranked in descending order of the number of followers on their accounts (data captured this morning).

We also show the number of new followers they've captured over the course of the campaign and the relative % growth in their following over the season. The final column notes their previous position in the table.

In other completely unrelated news, Betfred have been unveiled as sponsors of the Scottish League Cup which will be in a revolutionary group format this season.

Some notes on the figures;

Alloa appear to have an official account but they don't appear to use it very much as their last tweet was in Dec 2015. They seem to be the only senior SPFL club who is not actively using Twitter to engage with their supporters.
Ross County previous data was on an unofficial channel, they have since moved to an official verified Twitter account.
The grand total of Twitter followers across the whole SPFL is 1,063,541 which is up 161,762 on the start of the season figure of 901,779 (18% growth)
Two of the top Five followings are for clubs in the Championship this season (Rangers & Hibernian)
We finally found a table where Dundee Utd are above Dundee, you can thank us later Arabs!
